About Tony Atienza
Based in Chula Vista, California, Tony Atienza is a music teacher with over 20 years of experience. Alongside instructor roles with Lakeside Middle School, Tony Atienza has also worked with the Christian Youth Theater (CYT), a nonprofit in San Diego that offers theater-arts programs to students. He continues to direct musical arrangements for CYT productions.
Atienza studied music at the University of California, Irvine, where he earned a bachelor of arts in music vocal performance. After his graduation, undertook a graduate assistantship in music at San Diego State University, during which time he was the president of the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternity. He later served as the president of the California Music Educators Association, which is dedicated to promoting standards-based music education throughout the state.
Before he began teaching, Tony Atienza held positions with The Young Americans. He joined as a cast member and subsequently assumed the role of director for the 1989 edition of the New Kid’s Show.
